Land Acknowledgement

Halton Region is located within the traditional territories of the Anishnaabek, Haudenosaunee, Attawandarin, and the Métis. It is home to many other Indigenous nations from across the lands, including the enduring presence of Afro-Indigenous Peoples. We live on stolen land. We acknowledge the genocide and racism that has plagued Turtle Island for hundreds of years. We recognized and honour the real history and beauty of Mother Earth and its Indigenous Peoples. We fully support returning the land back to its First Peoples to restore balance and harmony, because what has been done with it is disgraceful and unsustainable. Our deepest thanks to the Mississaugas of the Credit for being caretakers of this territory.
