Conscious & Critical Conversations

The Big Thinkers reading group is intended for both BIPOC and white readers who are ready to think more critically about anti-racism and white supremacy. Engage in meaningful conversations that encourage deeper awareness of power, privilege, structural inequities and the immediate impact these have on the group dynamic to produce change in the moment. These critically conscious conversations encourage group members to bring to mind their own ideas and views of racism and privilege, and collectively think through effective solutions to imbalances of power and social hierarchies in modern society that have been informed by white supremacy. This opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue helps participants develop skills to facilitate challenging or difficult conversations that attend to power dynamics related to privilege, race and racism, gender and other social and structural inequalities. Participants will learn how to navigate conflicting viewpoints towards a better understanding of the self in relation to others, with the goal of creating radical change that is reflective of diverse perspectives.
